While servicing my rear parking brakes I had to pull the hubs and replace seals. Replaced bearings while I was in there. Passenger side had a slinger and drivers side did not. Is the slinger critical to lubrication? I read it is there to keep fluid from getting past the bearing and leaking. I broke one when pounding the seal out and couldn't find one on the other side. I was hoping I don't have to take the hubs off again and put new seals on just for the slingers if they aren't critical. From what I can find, some trucks have them and some don't.
