96 F250 surging under power

My truck starts great and runs fine when revving the throttle in neutral but as you are accelerating thru the gears it will surge like the fuel is being turned off and on and once you reach cruising speed it will pulsate slightly as your cruising along. It seems to have normal power just not smooth. Thanks for any advice.
