Engine Dead - No compression #2 - Questions...??

So, somehow I have lost cylinder 2, most likely due to failed injector. The shop guys is still digging to see how bad it is, if piston is messed up or valves or what.

My question. I had rebuilt this motor down to the head, putting in ARP studs, new Ford gaskets, brand new oil cooler, blue spring upgrade, Bullet Proof EGR, etc... The mechanic is saying if the piston is shot, it's gonna require pulling the motor to repair. What am I looking at to repair this cost wise - I mean what is the price range and fair. I simply cannot afford to fork out over $3k for this motor. I'd attempt to do it myself, but I just don't have the garage space to work on it unfortunately. And if piston is shot and cylinder wall is scratched/scorched, just how bad is this? I saw some 6.0 rebuild kits online that are pushing $2700 just for the kit!! holy sh$#t! :sick:

Oh, and this is a 2006 with 106k on the clock.
