I recently acquired a 2000 excursion. It is all stock with 170k miles. It's been showing ses light recently but my rinky dink aeroforce scan gauge isn't pulling any boost related codes. I reset the light and after another start or two it comes back on.
I drove it today and couldn't even powerbrake on a sand road. At higher rpm I could feel and hear boost hit and it would pull hard. Got back to the garage and having heard lots of talk here about pulling off the red line to the wastegate, I figured I had nothing to lose and pulled one end of it out. Now it easily breaks em loose on the concrete.
What did I unwittingly fix and is it fine to leave it like that? I haven't driven it enough to see if the light comes back.
2nd unrelated question: Shift lever won't move past drive, just feels like it is hitting something and so can't manually shift to lower gear. Transmission shifts fine.
