The "Camshaft Follower Guide Retainer 6C330" has been discontinued. This is the sheet metal piece that reaches down and holds the lifter guide plates in place. There is one of these followers on each bank.
Normally, I would not even think about replacing these, except that the baffle in my oil pan came apart due to metal fatigue and now I'm snakebit.
If a follower guide retainer fails, there could be some serious noise and damage take place! It will involve the cam, the lifters, the pushrods, the valves, and the pistons.
Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best does not appeal to me - anyone have any ideas?
Maybe IHC can still get them...
