Adding ACETONE to pump diesel - anyone try this?

I know a doctor locally who drives a Duramax, and he was telling me how adding acetone makes his mpg go up somewhat, but keeps his OIL LOOKING NEW...

He even pulled the dipstick and showed me... still clear like a gas engine, but with over 3500 miles on the oil! BIG change from the liquid coal tar that comes out on MY 7.3 dipstick, even with the FS2500 bypass filter.

Has anyone had any experience with acetone? Will it hurt anything? How much to use in regular pump diesel?

I'm leaving for a cross-country trip in a day or two, and any easy MPG tricks are REALLY appreciated. 12.9 (best) mpg x 3500miles = OUCH!
