Hey everyone, new guy here. Just got my self into a 2003 6.0 with 170k miles on it. Been reading alot and just trying to get everything that should be taken care of taken care of as much as I can. So here it is.
The truck is pretty much 100% stock as far as I can tell (powertrain wise). It was basically a 1 owner vehicle but wasnt completely babied. Seems like the oil changes and what not were done on schedule. Apparently had fuel pump changed at 120k miles and injectors supposedly looked good.
Things I have done in the past two days
-coolant flush and fresh coolant (old looked fine)
-oil change fresh filter
-fuel filters changed
-transfer case fluid changed (looked pretty rough)
-everything else looked fine.
It came with a superchips flashpaq 1805 which I have no idea about.
Has installed pyro/trans/turbo gauges as well.
Now I have ordered a EGR cooler delete, new oil cooler, and blue spring kit and will be ordering the coolant filter as well.
I dont have the money to get head studs right now. Is it pretty common to have them go around this mileage if its made it up till now?
Any other things I should do to keep the motor happy for another 50k miles (knocks on wood).
I dont like the idea of it being programmed with the superchips although I like being able to read any potential codes. Will it tell you if the program is installed and if so is it difficult to return to the stock program or should I just go to dealer and have it reflashed?
One last thing. The truck starts right up and sounds what I assume is pretty normal, no engine light or anything but it seems a little weak. I came from a 2012 cummins 6.7 so I understand stock its not gonna be as strong but it seems a little weaker then I assumed it would be. What kind of things can lead to this that are common fixes that I should take a look at.
Thanks for any info, sorry for the long post.
