1st post so go easy....
Man, it's been a long time, I looked at this forum way back when as I was first building my truck then life got in the way. Job, baby...you know the deal.
So here's my dilemma, I just recently got an offer to buy my truck....seems like a good thing at first until I started thinking about it. I realize this is a personal decision but I was hoping some of you guys could talk me into or out of keeping my truck. My wife is totally over me having the "thousand mile stare" and agonizing over it.

Buddy bought a new boat and wants to get a bigger rig to tow it with. He currently has a 2004 Chevy 2500 4x4 Extended Cab with the 6.0 gasser w/ 94K miles. It's immaculate, he's the kind of guy who pulls all the connections apart and sticks dielectric grease in them and changes ALL the fluids every 30K miles no matter what. It's a good truck but I'm not thrilled about it.
He's offered me his truck plus $10K cash....
I've got a 2002 Super Duty 7.3 4x4 Super Cab w/ 49K original miles. It literally sits in my driveway on a charger. If you do the math that's about 4K miles a year. :icon_rolleyes:
This is what's on it:
DP Tuner 6 Position Chip w/ Stock, 40HP Tow, 60 HP Tow, 80 HP Performance, 100 HP Race, 120 HP Race.
Sun Coast Triple Disc Billet Torque Converter
Factory Tech Valve Body
Hypermax 5" Exhaust
AFE Stage II Intake
Mag-Hytech Transmission Pan
Garrett GTP38R Ball Bearing Turbo
Isspro Chrome Bezel EV2 Gauge Cluster on Drivers Side Column
Pyrometer
Trans Temp
Turbo Boost
White Speedo Gauge & AC Set
Sound System w/ - 2 - JL 10" subwoofers, one in a stealthbox, one under back seat.
38" x 14.50" Pro Comp All Terrain - 85% tread left at least.
Second set of Weld Mountain Crusher Wheels - this is what I had on before the latest set.
Donoho Racing 8" Lift w/ Dual Shock Hoops
Fox Racing Dual Reservoir Shocks
Custom Driveshafts
Billet Grille & Custom Aluminum Badges
Remote Start, Remote Windows, Alarm.
Am I out of my mind to even consider his offer? At first I'm thinking, "Sweet, a truck that can tow my boat no problem and $10K in the bank." Once I started putting a list together I started rethinking it. I've looked around and it seems pretty like the mileage on mine is insanely low and I haven't really considered any other trucks since I've built this one so I don't know what, if any of the newer models are decent or not.
Is it worth it? I'd like a crew cab....could I use the money (sell his truck for 14K or so, it blue books around there, plus the 10K cash) to buy my way into a newer model (say like a 6.0 and use the extra cash to bullet proof it) or do I have the ultimate rig (except for the lift, which was cool...now not so much) and am I crazy to sell it?
I realize this is probably a self performed therapy session but there ya go.
