Hypothetical: replace my v10 with a crate 7.3 ?

This is just a hypothetical question. I have an 08 with the v10. I'm up around 160 k miles. I'm not expecting this engine to crap out anytime soon, but if he does, I'll probably just replace the engine with a new one because the truck is in such good shape and I got her for a great price.

So my question is, would it be outrageous to find a nice custom 7.3 to drop in? I'm assuming some changes would have to be made to make it work, but has it been done before? What kind of expense might I be looking at? Should I just throw another v10 in instead?

I'm pleased with the overall performance of the v10, but my least favorite thing of course is the fuel economy.
