Hi there. The Dana 70 in my 84 F-250 is working just great, not leaking, no noises, but I would like to do the wheel bearings and seals (axle seals?) and maybe brake shoes just for peace of mind as I have a 8000mile trip ahead of me next month, doing all sorts of little things now,
Ok, so I would like to buy the parts and tools needed prior to starting this job. How many seals are in the hub assembly? How many bearings? What is the size of the lock nut socket? anything else I should know about?
I hear some say that one should not pack the bearings as they kinda sit in gear oil. Is it common practice not to pack them?
