Hi folks. I know you must get tons of these questions, but here goes anyway.
I'm the current owner of a 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax, 5.7, towing package, 4x4..... Blah blah blah.
Recently I bought our first camper, a 23' hybrid travel trailer. It weighs approximately 6000 lbs loaded. This is well within the Tundras tow rating. However, the wind resistance of the trailer is another matter. I have pulled the trailer 3 times now, went into the white mountains....up plenty of hills, highway driving, back roads too. While the Tundra does it I feel like I am pushing it hard at times just to keep speed up (60-70 on the highway).
I am exploring/considering getting out of the Tundra and going to a 3/4 ton diesel. I know the weight does not call for it, I just feel I need something with more torque. I have been doing copious amount of reading and have come down to Ford or Chevy/GMC.
On this very forum I have read multiple horror stories of the 6.4 Powerstroke. This sucks as I have my eyes on a really nice 2010 F250 locally with 42k on it.
Can everyone out there give me there thoughts and experiences with the 6.4's and possibly what to watch out for? I'm not looking for "Duramax is a POS". I would like to get your opinions on the 6.4 and its dependability & cost of ownership.
Thanks everybody!!
