I have been having trouble with warm/ hot starts for a little while now. I suspected a bad IPR and I get a p1211 nearly every time I drive the truck. It seems to be getting worse. My truck seems to favor drive thrus. It likes them so much that when I cut my truck off to talk to the nice little people inside of the speaker, It refuses to start back up for several minutes.
While sitting in the Burger King drive thru Friday, enjoying a Double Whopper (with cheese) and waiting for my black beauty to decide to start, I was staring at the local Ford Stealership across the highway
So I broke down and drove over there to have them scan the truck and tell me for sure that I needed a new IPR before I just threw money at it.
After fighting with a few of his mechanics, the service manager finally got one of them to go out and check the truck. After about 20 minutes and $80, he tells me mater-a-factly that I need a new HPOP. I grilled him about this and that for a while, but he persisted that he had checked out the IPR and everything else, and he was sure that it was the HPOP.
Now my HPOP is a T500 that was installed in March of 2012. I know they have a 2 year warranty, but I wonder if the word of 1 mechanic is enough for a successful warranty claim. Besides, I don't want to go thru swapping out a HPOP (even if it doesnt cost me anything) unless it is going to fix my problem. I have spent quite a bit of time under the hood lately, and Im getting kinda tired of it.
Any advice?
