hauler bed weight

I was under the impression that hauler beds weigh less than pickup beds. I see an old post here though where someone got rid of their 2000# hauler bed and improved the gas mileage.

I'm specifically looking at a western hauler aluminum bed. Is this really heavier than a pickup bed?
