Check gauge light

I have an 03 Excursion 6.0, completely stock, 177k. Got a call from the wife this morning saying that on her way to work the check gage light came on briefly due to oil pressure gauge dropping off. She said it came right back up and no hiccup or loss of power, no other indicators of problems. Oil level is fine, oil has about 2800 miles on it, wondering if I might have a wire shorting out or other electrical issue. Would you guys say I'm on the right track, or any suggestions on other things to look at. Thanks in advance.
