On one of my 2002 7.3 4X4 crewcabs I have a problem with spontaneous starter engagement while running. Also at times merely turning key to "run" will start cranking. Problem first appeared on a road trip - Ford dealer diagnosed melted wiring and bad starter - repaired at great expense and seemed OK for a week. I've searched the forum and found a number of posts, many pointing to the GEM. No time to pursue a proper fix right now, nowhere to work except driveway and need this truck for Christmas travel.
I had the idea to run wires into the cab to a toggle switch to disconnect starter until next time needing to start. Perhaps someone could advise - can I instead pull one or two fuses from the under dash fuse box?
