I have recently bought an 04 6 speed F 250 with 149,000 miles on it and the first weekend I had it was in town and all of the sudden it had no power and I could barely get it moving. After a couple miles on the interstate it cleared up and I had all my power back and it ran great rest of day. Took it to a shop and they said it needed an EGR valve so we had that replaced. Truck ran great so I took it for a trip that weekend. Sunday afternoon it did the same thing and then died and wouldn't start. Hauled it back to South Dakota on a trailer. The small dealer we bought it from came and got it and found a gasket blown out in the fuel filter cover under the cab. HE fixed this problem at no cost to me. Drove it back to Minnesota that next weekend it ran great pulled a trailer home. This last Saturday I was cruising along with cruise set at 70 and I lost all power again and had to down shift to 4th and put peddle to the floor to maintain 55 mph. Rolled through stop sign and it sounded and ran like crap. It took 3 miles and the peddle to the floor to get back to 60 mph. Had to slow down to go through my town and as I came out the other side I had all my power back. I took it to a guy now who says that the number 1 injector is out of it. I believe him and am going to have it fixed but I want advice on if this is going to be the solving of my problems. Bought for a a reliable vehicle for the winter for my wife while I am on the road and so far it has been anything but that. Looking for any advice out there. Not a mechanic vehicle myself just enough to get by on the farm.
