Hey,
I've got a 2004 F350 Diesel and my problem is that the lights are surging. What I mean by surging is as if you had a light bulb hooked up to a generator(best way I can think to explain it) and you would see the light go from bright to not as bright back to bright over and over. It is not a flicker with them going completely off but it's just a change in the brightness with them not staying constant. Sitting idling though, it is as if it happens in the same interval and maybe at the same revolution of the engine. This maybe sounds crazy but it's hard to describe with out seeing or maybe a video.
When you are driving down the road at night though, you can see it in the dash with the cluster lights doing and even seeing the radio. I can also see it in the headlights it seems as if they don't stay constant and change. The easy way to see it though is get into the truck and turn the interior light on and you can see the lights change?
The truck seems to be charging fine. The brakesmart shows that the alternator is charging(but will it show it go to say 15.2 some) but the Edge CTS shows a good voltage as well(never see it go into the 15.2). The voltage does stay in the 14 range on both but not really a steady one current when going down the road or sitting there.
The alternator is one though from Autozone since the original one did go bad, but like I said, it is charging. Could it be a ground wire or something worse that is causing this?
Just wondering if anybody has any ideas on what might be causing this? The problem maybe has worsen but maybe it hasn't, but it's definitely annoying to see it doing it.
Thanks for any help or ideas!
