hello guys I was looking on any opinions on my new to me 6.4 its a 2008 with 176k I did get all the maint records with it it was purchased and serviced at one ford dealer its whole life...
all the service records state that "bulk " 10w 30 was used at aprox 5k intervals and I seriously question if it was motorcraft
the truck is from Minnesota so cold weather was a factor ..... now this is my first diesel that I actually own but I was a fleet maint. tech for a large fleet of E250 and E350 electrical service vans and a few 7.3 OBS bucket trucks (original super duties) and I def know the difference in the smell and qualities of 15w40 vs 5w30 etc.
down here in Oklahoma a popular oil is Mystik JP for diesels I was planning on using 15w 40 with a real motorcraft filter
question 1 ... how long dose the little oil indicator light stay on after engine has started (my truck it stays on for about a second or so) is this normal???
question 2 ... would this have caused any real wear or have I worried for no reason
