Hey guys,
I have recently started seriously looking into upgrading to a bigger truck and have come to the decision that Ford offers the best combination of reliability, power, and looks that I'm after. I originally focused on the 7.3 powerstrokes (as can be seen in my recent post) but I have realized I have a lot more options with the 6.0s than I do with the rare 7.3s. Basically it comes down to this:
I can get a 7.3 with high mileage, anywhere from 180k to 270k, and have a few grand left for repairs as they're needed.
or
I can get an older (03-05) range 6.0 f250 and not have the safety net that I would with the 7.3s.
On a side note - theres a 2003 6.0 f250 with 73,000 miles and nothing done but an EGR delete and a 6" lift. Can I expect to have a dependable truck for the next 30,000 miles or should I count on having the truck in the shop and costing me a few grand? Also, what are the top things I should do to keep it from needing major repairs, such as studs, filters, turbo cleaned, anything like that?
Thank y'all for any input!
