A friend of mine is selling his 2002 F250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke (I had a 2000, but sold it years ago and I want to go back to owning a diesel for towing). The truck has 125,000 miles, had regular oil/filter/fuel filter/trans flush maintenance, but his mechanic said to never change the coolant, just test the PH and add the supplement, if necessary. My concern is not cavitation, but since the coolant probably lost its corrosion inhibitors years ago, sediment, rust and possible deterioration of the aluminum radiator may be a problem (it currently doesn't have any problems). The coolant is discolored; doesn't look real clean. So, am I asking for problems, or will a good flush and fill with extended life coolant and distilled water be the best course of action? Thanks.
