Hello to all, just replaced my HFCM housing with the revised model that has heater delete and made a rookie mistake!!!
I had a previous thread regarding an internal flapper/check valve on the fuel filter cartridge side of HFCM that had broken off when cleaning a bit of sediment from inside. Unfortunately that little rubber valve and flimsy bracket are not available for purchase (so be careful when cleaning the inside of your HFCM housing and the valve shows sign of corrosion). You will be buying a new unit...
I purchased a new and revised unit and with it "the also" new wiring harness (heater plug deleted). Got it all mounted and plugged in, primed the fuel circuit a number of times (KO - EO) and attempted to start motor.
Turned over but no start, finally realized I had got the fuel pump and W.I.F. plugs mixed up after pulling water trap drain plug and no fuel present. Got it all straightened out and truck finally started but with much hesitation. Checked for codes and had a few.
P0266, P0678, P0263, P0232 P2269.
I called my diesel tech friend about what I had done and codes. Some of the codes were from when the OEM pump failed and a couple of new ones when plugs got mixed. I cleared the codes as friend instructed and restarted truck. Ran beautifully and without a hiccup. I asked if any electrical damage may have occured to fuel pump or W.I.F. sensor, he said unlikely.
I am a bit worried about these components, should I be???
As always, any and all input will be greatly appreciated...
