Hey Guys,
My 1987 F250 with a 6.9L died on me again.
I had a hell of a time a few months ago chasing electrical gremlins. Ended up doing a glow plug controller bypass and replacing glow plugs, batteries, alternator, and voltage regulator.
Well... now, I have a new issue.
I've put 2000 miles on it without issue. Sometimes, just running around town, other times putting on 400 miles in a day.
This week, I drove it for an hour or so, and the 'Water in Fuel' light started to glow. When I got to the house, I shut her down, and popped the hood. I pulled my drain for a second or two, just enough to see what came out, and a little water did seem to come out. I don't think it was open long enough to drain more than a quarter or third of the can. I fired it back up, and parked it, with less than 30 seconds run time.
The next morning, I went out to run it, and it wouldn't fire. I even tried a squirt of ether, and that didn't help. I figured I must have let some air in when I pulled my drain, so I started to bleed it at an injector.... no fuel came through. I back tracked to the valve on the fuel filter canister assembly..... and I'd get a bit of air pressure (ppshhhttt), but then no fuel would flow. I pulled the filter and it was only half full. Topped it back off and reinstalled. Still, nothing through the bleeder valve.
So, I'm guessing I have problems at my water separator or maybe a fuel pump.
Anyone have any shortcuts that could be helpful?
