I have been reading about exhaust mods. A lot of opinions and a lot of facts. I do agree on a new down pipe but I am not sure about the elbow. I will not be removing my EBV as my dually was more than powerful enough with it and I can use it for light braking too. But the pipes I am seeing look like I need to buy an adapter or elbow to mate up to the turbo?
If I only replace the downpipe do I need anything else? I did find a straight pipe for the cat bypass that will keep the diameter the same at only $10 as a favor from a shop. SO I can bolt the down pipe to the muffler pipe ok but what else do I need for the turbo end?
Next is where is everyone mounting the probe for EGT sensor? Should I remove the turbo base and drill in the intake to the turbo? Again the dually was on the outlet at the elbow but I read IH recommends no more than 1250 degrees at the inlet of the turbo and some report as much as 400 degrees between the two locations. I hope to install a bigger wastegate actuator just not sure which brand. I know the Big Head worked great before but I am not sold at $195.
Later when the money tree bears fruit I will go with the DP5 tuner and full pillar gages. Still shopping for my trans cooler as I am not towin much now it is not a priority.
