Oil level

I have changed the 7.3 in my truck with a 7.3 from a 1989 van. I had to change the oil dip stick from a different engine and I don't believe it.

Please tell me how many quarts of oil should it take? I thought it was 12 quarts. It show two quarts low with 12 quarts. It doesn't have a turbo.
Could I have the wrong dip stick in it? Or does it take 14 quarts?
