The title says it all. What is wrong?
Just kidding.
We have a 2005 E450 with a passenger bus on the back and when we turn on the front A/C all is well. As soon as we turn on the rear A/C, there is a loud squeal and the engine dies. Engine will start right back up and run fine as long as we don't use the rear A/C.
Obviously there is a problem with the compressor for the rear A/C and that needs to be addressed, but why is it killing the engine? I have been chasing other fires today so I didn't make the time to look for any data with our scanner, but i'm not even sure what I should look at beyond looking for codes.
At this point I don't know if there is something electrical going on that is shutting down the engine or if the compressor is locked up and is killing the engine. Is either of these even possible?
