A year and a half ago, my truck had 90k miles and was at my ford dealer getting serviced... I had scheduled oil, fuel filters, transmission flush and new belt and tensioner because the belt had started to squeal. I am the original owner and always had regular maintenance done at the dealer.
After those things were done, the belt still squealed, just thought it was because how messy they had been under the hood, new belt and tensioner looked good.
Which brings me to now...
The STOP SAFELY NOW message came on this week and left me on the side of the road. After cooling off for 45min. it started and I got to the dealership after hours, left key in slot it was fixed the next day,GREAT!
Repair ticket said sensor no.3 bad, climbed under, found it, good...while there I slid out through the front---then I saw it---the crankshaft had TWO serpentine belts and TWO tensioner pulleys...can't be seen from the top...
The tech charged 2 hours, $244.00 and parts belt, $68.34, and tensioner, $177.66...he was there and only changed one... Almost $500. And will have to pay more soon because this belt is on the inside...
Is there anything I can do about this, they say the tech makes the ultimate decision on replacement, he probably thought that the small one was OK, they said... I at least should have been told there were two belts, I thought I had the ultimate decision... As it sits now, it will cost me well over $1000. for 2 belts and tensioners. That's wrong
