Over heaating Issues

OK.... So I had to replace the Radiator back in May of this year, while driving in town after towing the 5er on a weekend trip, I had just dropped the 5er and was on my way home the truck over heated and the top of the radiator cracked and blew as I was pulling into my mechanic's shop...so we replaced the radiator and thermo and all seemed fine, last week while pulling the 5er up to Mammoth Lakes, Ca. I left Bishop and started to climb the Sherwin Summit grade on Highway 395, for those of you not familiar with the area ... it is a tough pull for anything, Bishop sits at about 3500' above sea level, the climb starts easy out of town, then it hits, you climb from about 4000' to 8000' in less then 6 miles, it brutal, my 06, F-350 started heating up, by mid point, the heat gauge showed the temp almost into the Red, so I pulled into viewing area to cool it down, the engine temp instantly dropped, and the truck finished the climb with no heating issues, up to that point the temps never got hot in the previous 200 mile of pulling ... it only gets hot when pulling grades, it's fine in hills and level pulling....

Any suggestions will help, I'm starting repairs as follows:
1) replace water pump
2) replace EGR ???
3) install coolant filter

Any helpful input will be greatly appreciated, I just finished doing the charging and voltage issue, and now this... thanks Wedge
