I pulled my EBP sensor and tube today to clean everything out. The tube was totally corroded through in multiple locations and completely packed off with soot. Sensor was also completely plugged up. I cleaned out the sensor but decided to just go ahead and buy another one. It was so bad I am pretty sure it was beyond saving.
So, trip to the parts counter and ~$190 later I get home with a new tube and sensor. Tube went on great. The sensor was tight though, I tried to clean up the cross over fitting as best I could with brakekleen and some wire. Got to torquing up the sensor and ended up sheering it off with ~80% of the threads engaged.
I have a healthy dose of JB weld on it now curing and plan on putting on another liberal coating of the stuff for a short term fix.
Questions: I have a long trip happening this weekend, can this jimmy-rig withstand the EGT? I would think that the gas would cool quite a bit before hitting the JB weld area at the sensor. As far as I can tell reading the net, just having the sensor zip tied and not connected might throw a code but not produce CEL, probably worse than a blocked tube though.
Next question, It looks like that little xross over for the EBP tube to EBP sensor mounting bracket is screwed into the block with two 7mm bolts but it looks like there is a rubber gasket on it, so I didn't pull that off. Does this piece just pry off? Seems like it would be an easy fix to just easy-out the broken sensor threads and put on a new one or file off the JB weld and weld it on there.
Thanks!
