stock egr/oil cooler longevity w/ clean elc coolant

I've read and re-read all about the reasons the coolers clog and fail, but I'm still unclear on something.

Would the stock egr/oil cooler setup theoretically last for many, many years of perfect service, if a truck had a clean cooling system with a coolant filter installed? Or is the stock egr cooler eventually doomed no matter what?

I keep reading that egr delete or bulletproof egr cooler is a recommended bulletproofing/longevity upgrade, along with cleaning up the cooling system.

But it seems to me that spending several hundred on parts / fluids / chemicals to upgrade parts that would be fine with a clean cooling system is a waste.

Please help me get clear on this, as I'm running stock parts and as much as I'd love to do a job to install these parts (to learn about the truck, and to have it more reliable), I don't want to spend several hundred for a learning experience.

If you're thinking "wait til they fail, and replace them ... why are you even considering this?!". The reason why is because I have a lot of free time right now, and I may not have that luxury down the road. So I'm doing what I can with the free time I have.
