Bulletproof 6.0 vs Newer 6.7

Hi all, just looking for some advice.

I have an 04 6.0 with about 140k miles. With a recent move to Florida, I have cracked my head gasket. (Note: I have had the EGR deleted) After we took the truck to a local diesel shop they said that the truck will need two injectors replaced, head gaskets and studs and to have the EGR put back on with the oil cool and reservoir chamber as well , but this time with the EGR from bulletproof diesel. In addition to all this, they recommended that I replace all eight injectors instead of just the two; since they were already going to have them open they are not going to charge me for extra labor for each injector. The grand total with parts and labor came out to about $7k.

Now here are my questions;

1. Why did one shop tell me to delete the EGR, and now another is telling me to put it back on? I paid $800 to have it removed because that is what many forums and my mechanic in Texas told me to do.

2. Should I bulletproof my 6.0 and have that for a truck, or try to sell it for what I owe and go get a 2011 6.7? Which truck do you think will be better? What are the ups and downs to 6.7's?

Further information -

I am shipping out in 21 days for bootcamp and will not be in a position to drive a truck until I graduate boot and get down to Pensacola again for my training there. That being said, I will also not have the $7k to fix it until around december. That leaves me truckless for around 4 months. Trying to get myself out of a hole and not sure what exactly to do.

Thanks in advance for any information you can give me.
