So I've done days worth of searching and reading here and on other sites, but I have yet to find an FAQ that covers all these things.
Why would one be needed?
Well consider the new Diesel owners and they come to the forums here and they hear all sorts of things about deleting this, disabling that, tuning something else - but they have no one place to go to get the synopsis or low-down on why they should consider doing any of these things and what the attendant cost might be (both dollars wise as well as potential warranty issues / emssions test failure etc..
Why would I want to consider:
Running an Algicide in my fuel
Installing additional or better water separator
Eliminate or disable my DPF
Eliminate or disable my DEF
Eliminate of disable my EGR
Eiminate or disable Regen
Install a coolant filter
(Insert your favorite here)
I'm a newb when it comes to new style diesels that are in vehicles 2000 and newer. My last diesel was a CAT3126B and the one before that was a 6.9 back in 84 in my F250 of the same vintage.
I was trained and served in the USN and basically cut my teeth on the Detroit 2 strokes such as the 6-71. That was back in 71 when I was discharged.
So there are probably others out there, who like me, have these questions..
Would anyone like to take a shot at these and maybe add some others?
