Comedy of Errors

For your entertainment, I'll tell on myself:

First 6.0 project, a basket case 04, ruptured EGR cooler, rusted engine. Put an 03 short block in it and used the 03 oil cooler cover. Go to install the 04 turbo oil line and realize there was a design change. No problem, I use the "snap to connect" 03 line. Get it running in my driveway, a couple of trips up and down the street, no problem. Maiden voyage, I hear a "pop" 2 blocks from home, I figured its a CAC boot. I turn around and make it half way home, truck dies. It is raining oil and there is a nice trail behind me!

After more embarrassing work, here's what I figured happened:

turbo oil line STC was not fully "snapped" by yours truly

Driver's side CAC clamp never tightened by your truly at CAC end

CAC tube pops off and at the other end nudges the turbo oil line

Oil line pops up

three gallons of T6 are applied to the road

Go ahead, laugh, I did. Truck is now nick-named the "Exxon Valdes"
