Looking for advice on how to clean a diesel fuel feed line sock from the TransferFlow tank on my dad's 1995 F-250 TD. I pulled the sock out the other day and it was all surrounded by greenish scum stuff that was so thick I couldn't even see the wire mesh of the sock. I tried cleaning it with compressed air and carburetor cleaner but it could still only get maybe 50% off the sock. Appreciate any advice on a good way to get the sock really clean.
By the way, the reason I pulled the sock out was I was getting a fuel filter light on the dash whenever I selected to feed from the TransferFlow tank. If I selected to feed from either the factory forward or rear tanks, the fuel filter light would go out in about five seconds and stay off. I called TransferFlow and the guy I spoke recommended I pull the TransferFlow fuel feed line and check the sock. Sure enough, that was the problem. The tank was installed in 1997 and the sock was never cleaned so I suppose having a plugged up sock after 15 years isn't all that unusual.
