Turbo Problems

Hi, I'm new to the forum and figured this would be a great place to get some good advice.

I'll start from the beginning. I have a 2001 7.3 Powerstroke that I purchased new. I now has 135k miles on it. A year or so after I bought the truck, I purchased a Hypertech Programmer and I also put a 4" exhaust on it. After a few years, I started getting a little turbo surge. After a few more years, I had a lot of turbo surge. About two years ago, I put an Edge Tuner on it. Prior to the Edge, I wasn't monitoring my EGT's. I'm sure I ran it way to hot with the Hypertech (surprised I didn't melt my turbo). The Edge does a great job monitoring everything and backing me down.

So now here are the issues. The turbo surge is really bad when I'm pulling a load and hit even a small hill or have a head wind. The check engine light comes when I run it hard. I don't have near the power the truck once had, even if I turn up the Edge to 5. My fuel mileage definitely isn't what it used to be. I can only get about 18lbs of boost......not sure what the max should be.

I was thinking replacing my stock wheel with a Wicked Wheel 2, but I'm somewhat concerned that I would be wasting my money because I'm not sure how much damage I've done to the rest of the turbo.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.
