99 F350 of course 7.3L. Recently getting Service Engine Soon Lamp illumination on initial start up but the light goes out in short time. We are experiencing below 20 degree weather. I plug my truck in at night. I have had to jump start with battery charger several times recently because someone doesn't shut the door all of the way (pointing finger at self). Initial start up lacks a stable idle and I have not noticed it idling higher as it usually does. I also have not noticed the usual increase in Exhaust temp on gauge, the hissing, and the sluggish operation when I start down the road. Is this because I left it plugged in? At idle the RPM seems to hunt up and down a little. Usually after several miles when returning to idle the hunting rpm isn't noticeable. I have noted a power surge that is rather exciting that last only a second or two, occurs once, and only happens within the first two miles.
So, went to Autozone for code Check and these codes showed up P1670 IDM Electronic Feedback, P0381 GP Lamp output Circuit Fault, P1280 ICP Circuit out of range, P0340 Inactive CMP Sensor Circuit, P0470 EBP Sensor Circuit Malfunction, P0541 Manifold Intake Air Heater. Codes all erased except P0470 EBP Sensor Circuit Malfunction.
My question becomes how can this be tested without a scanner? Do the symptoms correlate with this code, or do you think there is more than one issue? I will go back and have the codes read again because after I got home and started the truck later in the day the SES lamp illuminated. It did not illuminate after codes were erased, but, the engine was warm. Any help/advise would be appreciated.
Thank you.
