I am brand new here and would appreciate any help given.
I have just purchased a, 04 F-250 FX4, no history on the vehicle. I have noticed oil in the coolant (degas bottle?). From my reading it appears that I have an oil cooler problem, new oil cooler and EGR delete just came in and I am planning on tackling it this weekend.
My question is on flushing the system, I searched on here and saw many recommendations to install a filter and run it for various amounts of time/distance prior to flushing the system and replacing the OC. With a suspected failed OC already, does this change that? I plan on installing a coolant filter, just haven't ordered it yet and was going to wait another pay period (yes, money is an issue :lol:) but am wanting to get this repaired quickly. If I flush with the old cooler and then replace should I be good to go? If I get the filter installed, is it safe to run it for a while with the clogged cooler?
