FICM - Replacement Thoughts

Well, with the kind help of another member of this forum....he helped me narrow down my rough starts. FICM...my volts are dropping down to 43v at times. Ack!

So...I have narrowed down my purchase to either going with a replacement from a local parts store or going with one from FICMRepair.com.

I don't really feel I need a tune with my FICM as I already have the SCT Livewire TS with custom programs with my bullet proof work and upgrades. When I have the Livewire TS in "Street" or "XTreme Street" and when in either of these tunes...my truck is a damn beast! I never thought a dually truck could move so quickly. Feels like I'm driving a sports car. The torque and HP are amazing. I've owned my truck, new, since 2006 and since these tunes and mods to the engine/turbo...it's been amazing!

Well, here we are now...with the FICM. So, I really don't feel I need a tuned FICM with what I already have done to the truck.

I can purchase a replacement FICM (re-manufactured) from a local auto parts dealer for $400. It's made by A1Cardone. But, buying from them I see the following, "Units must be flashed ON the vehicle.Vehicle specific on-car programming must be performed AFTER install to prevent drivability issues."

Well hell...if I go with the A1Cardone FICM....then I'll have to chase down who can perform the tune on it, which may not be any fun.

Anyone gone this route?
