A few weeks ago my F250 started acting up as if the key was suddenly turned off then back on, only for a split second. It would do it once every few days but always while running down the road. Once I saw the tach drop a few hundred RPM for just a split second. Finally it did it at a stop sign which killed the engine. I replaced the cam position sensor and all is well now.
Today I was running down the road (in a Louisiana snow storm, lol) around 70 MPH and it lost power. The CEL came on. I tried to maintain my speed but the engine would shake real bad so I backed off and held 50 MPH. I pulled over as soon as it was safe. A quick check found the passenger side exhaust manifold much cooler than the drivers side. I limped home. I'll check it out in the morning when it warms up a bit. I suspect the connection under the valve cover has come apart.
I've lurked around here enough to gain a little confidence and knowledge to keep my truck out of the shop. Hopefully this will be a fairly quick repair tomorrow. Just won't get to go to the lake to snatch up some sac-au-lait as planned. Thanks to all of you for educating this semi-retired guy.
