Hi, my name's Howie, I have a fleet of 2006 6 liter E350 cutaway chassis that I make nice and build into various truck configurations, utility, flatbed, etc.
I have seen some interesting challenges while reconditioning these old ambulance chassis and have both admiration for and disgust with the various aspects of the 6 liter.
One challenge that I have again been dealt is an oil leak from the timing chain cover, displaying behind the power steering pump. The first time I encountered this, it fooled me as the engine oil was new, clean and passed for power steering fluid, causing me to replace a line that wasn't the issue.
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem with corrosion eating through the metal in the gasket and allowing oil to leak out of the motor?
I have had no coolant leak and no oil in coolant or coolant in oil issue.
I hope we all learn things together and keep these lovely beasts runnin'.
