D50 to D60 axle swap with a 01 superduty

Hello all I have a question concerning my superduty 2001 7.3 4wd. I have a messed up front carrier, pinion and worn axleshaft race bearings. It’s my daily driver and it has been running in 2wd for over a year now thanks to the coyotes who borrowed it for drug and smuggling activities on the border..that’s another story.
My thoughts are this
Option A:
Obtain a D60 axle change the gearing to 3.73 to match the rear, then go through the d-60 with new seals bearings etc. and then swap it out with the d-50. But is this possible and a good idea? Any thoughts to help me understand the process better before I dive in how about cost or alternative ideas? Would my existing hubs and rotors change over and would this bolt into place?
Option B would be to remove the carrier in the existing D-50 rebuild this and be back on the road with four wheel drive. However since I’m attacking this as a hobby project and learning as I go I’m afraid I’ll end up missing some needed part or tool and having the truck down too long in my shop and having the ol lady on my case to get it back on the road.
Option C: Somehow incorporate a locker into this project without busting the piggy bank. Any thoughts on what you might do in this situation please let me know. Also any great links or info on this please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance!
