I posted a couple weeks ago about a loss of power issue with my truck. Power was coming and going. I would be running 70 mph down the interstate wide open and all the sudden power came back and I was doing 83 backing off before I knew it. It would run like the for a while maybe 30 seconds maybe 15 minutes and then slowly fade away. Every time I had power the check engine light would come on and go away with the loss of power. I ended up unplugging the ICP sensor and it seemed to make the issue go away so I bought a new one once I got back in town.
I put the ICP in literally as I was leaving town with a 16 ft enclosed trailer behind me. I made it probably 120 miles everything like it should be. Then I started slowly lost power. After a few minutes it came back but that was short lived. The power intervals shorter and shorter and less and less frequent. Also during the trip I changed my fuel filter and oil.
When I got home I was able to take it to a friend's shop and hook it to his computer. He never could pull any codes that made much sense but did see that the IPR was not functioning as it should be. So I threw another part at the truck. This time with no noticeable effect. It's still doing about the same. There is no rhyme or reason why it will have power or not. Some days I may only have power once a day and others it'll be 5 or 6 times. I've been driving on average 300 or 400 miles a day. So I have plenty of time to let it run it's coarse. I did notice when my buddy was backing a trailer in the other day a small puff of white smoke when he hit the throttle.
I'm out of ideas and tired of throwing parts at it but right now I can't afford to put it in the shop. I have to drive it every day and I work on the road so I'm not home even if I wanted to.
