2001 Excursion PSD 4x4 (never chipped or programmed)
It finally happened to me at about 180k miles. Very little towing and 20-25k Atf changes with Mobil 1. Also I live in S. Florida which is totally flat terrain and easy on the trans.
Good news is I just got back from a 3k mile trip in the mountains of Ga, Tn and Carolinas. (Blue Ridge mountain area). Then I went to the keys. She failed while I was in taking off very easy. Would not shift past 2nd gear. Fluid not burned or overheated. I can't complain after almost 13 years and 180k, she let me down in a convenient area , not too far from home, and I was able to drive back in 2nd gear at 30mph.
Ordering new parts now along with a 6.0 trans cooler and new Suncoast torque converter. If anything interesting surfaces during the rebuild process, I will report back. After a full rebuild with new seals and clutches, I won't have the mechanical diode to worry about.
