I have a 1991 F250 with the 7.3 idi. I previously had a charging issue so in response i changed my voltage regulator (external), alternator (which has been tested as working), and put two brand new batteries. I put the batteries on the battery charger before installation so that they would be at 100% charge. Now when I start the truck, the volt meter in cab is about centered, but when i accelerate it quickly moves up very close to the 18v marking. I have also checked these readings with my multimeter at the battery. I am pretty stumped as to what it could be. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
