Hello all,
I was talking to a friend recently about owning a 6.4, and he told me that the 6.0 and the 6.4 have basically the same egr cooler design. Is this true? If it is, I just don't think in light of the problems I have experienced with my current vehicles, that the 6.4 engine would be for me.
I haven't read about problems with this engine like I have the 6.0; I don't know if it hasn't accumulated the mileage or what, but, it seems like everytime I have a problem, there are at least 10 other people having the same problem with the 6.0. I'd like to know about the egr design and also your personal experiences. (I thought the egr cooler has a separate cooling system on the 6.4 ; turns out that was the FUEL cooling system.) It seems when a cooler ruptures there is the capacity of the cooling system that could get sucked into the engine on the 6.0. Is this the same for the 6.4? Thanks in advance. Craig.
