i understand that these older diesels are noisier than the newer models. the clattery diesel sound that sets them apart from gassers.
i am wondering if my truck is clattering more than it did since i ran out of my favorite stanadyne and am using a napa additive called"diesel fuel conditioner"...."complies with federal low sulpher requirments for use in diesel engines and non road engines"
this was the small print on the back of the container. it's supposed to be anti gel.
seeing as how we live in n. nevada, this is good.
but.... should we have gotten stanadyne again, even if we had to order it?
we are changing out the oil filter every 500 t0 1000 miles to catch the crud left by p.o. who never changed oil.
the fuel syx is redone, cooling syx flushed, mechanical oil psi and h2o gauges installed. little smoking and starts up and runs great. ( lots of work gone into this )oil psi runs around 40 ...coolant at the 180 mark .
valley is clean, tuna can is kept clean.
oh...one more thing...20-50 diesel oil is hard to find. just want to keep the valve train healthy as long as possible.
