Minute or two...loss of power

I am highly experienced in having my 2006 6.0 break down, but this a new one.
I'm driving to work (only a 3 mile drive) and I start to accelerate from a light and I have little to no power and I see some white smoke! The engine never died.
I made it to the side of the road sat there for short period of time. I had put it in park, put it back in drive and it was fine, no problem on the drive home?

Any ideas would sure be appreciated.
