I am a new diesel owner and I had changed the fuel filter a few months ago and had no problems. The weather is getting colder so anyway this is what happen. I was driving for about 2 hours the truck started acting up same as before when I previously changed the fuel filter. It start running rough and losing power than just quit.
This time I was in a bit of a hurry I cross threaded the filter had to get another so basically the truck had been sitting for a few hours by the time I got another filter put on. Finally got the truck started and it would idle ok than after a few minutes it started running worse again and quit. I notice there is a lot of air pressure built up in the filter housing so I release this pressure by loosening the filter and same thing happens. What could be the problem I am very inexperienced and would greatly appreciate any help with this.
